New experiences are always welcomed. That is just what I had when I stepped foot into my classroom at Wilson Elementary in Caldwell. I had never been in such an environment or had the chance to help so many people learn and be active. After day one I had seen roughly 250 students and that was only half of the student body. Within a week I spent time with each student for two half hour classes. My days went by in a whirlwind fashion. Days became all about high energy and enthusiasm. The more excited I was the more excited the students seemed to be. Memorable experiences from that semester were the successful cross-curricular lessons, student achievement on their personal fitness tests, and cooperating with the American Heart Association to put on an exciting Jump Rope for Heart unit. Difficulties came in planning for fifth grade classes right after kindergarten classes with no prep time between them. I became really good at adapting activities for five year old students all the way up through 11 year old students. The development that happens in that time span, both social and motor is huge and difficult to account for.
