Following, you will find a selection of artifacts that demonstrate my competencies for domain 2 of the Danielson Framework for teaching.
This is my classroom expectations poster which my classes helped to create. Having the students help with this process was pivotal so that they felt more comfortable with the rules and were more likely to follow them. This process allowed students to interact with not only myself, but gather opinions of other students and work together to produce an end product. As the students finished this list, they began to own the expectations for learning. Students also understood that the consequences of their behavior would be equal of they ever violated this list.

This is one of my more successful lessons over the semester of PE that I taught. This activity is called "Pin down" and allows students to improve their throwing skills as well as their cardiovascular endurance. Setting this up so students had an equal chance to hit other pins and keep theirs standing was difficult. However, I was able to use real bowling pins in the middle of the gym and plastic ones on the outside. The outside of the gym floor was clear so students had a path to run laps after their pin fell over. Students learned that it was more difficult to defend a pin in the middle of the gym, but it was easier to knock one of the plastic pins over.

This is my paper doll from the first day of class. It is an activity that students complete an image of themselves with an addition of something that represents a favorite thing such as summertime activity or a favorite book, or pet and then places their paper doll on the health continuum which leads into the first lesson from the book. This assignment also allows me to get to know a little more about my students. This activity sets up an environment of respect and rapport. I get to learn a little about each of my students and make a connection and they learn a little about me as well. This assignment paired with the classroom bingo assignment allows students to open up and not be afraid to share opinions.
Classroom bingo is an activity where the class gets to know each other better. Students talk to one another to fill squares with names with things such as "a person who's birthday is in the same month as yours, a world traveler, someone who read + books this summer." This sets the class up to be able to talk to each other so that the class can be discussion based.
This specifically allows students to get to know each other and work on communication. My health class is based strongly on discussion and of students don't feel comfortable enough with each other to share then days can be difficult. All of my classes loved this activity and we all had the opportunity to get to know one another. |
