Following, you will find a selection of artifacts that demonstrate my competencies for domain 1 of the Danielson Framework for teaching.
Health final exam: This is the final exam for my health class which is reflective of my class' interests and material covered most recently. My classes each set a goal for their passing scores. This exam included lots of graphs and visual questions. As with any material covered in this class this specific content seemed to relate to my classes the easiest. My classes goals never fell below an 85% for this test and an 80% for the class. Most of my students reached that goal, and those that didn't had a conference with me to discuss why they fell short and how they can improve in their future classes.
This is the cover and selection from a student designed healthy options restaurant menu. Students used resources to create their dream restaurant menu with healthy eating options. Working in pairs or by themselves students thought of unique twists on common dishes to make them healthier options. Terms that the students came up with to use included: char-broiled, steamed, baked, lean, all-natural, and msg free. For this assignment the class used the school's computer lab and art studios. This activity was the wrap up lesson for the nutrition unit and provided an opportunity to apply knowledge to a real life situation. I used this assessment along with the unit exam to provide a grade for the class.
This is my lesson plan for running the PACER test in groups of three students. The purpose of this lesson was to allow students to run the test into the high 80's to 100's. This was the final lesson before final fitness testing started. At the end of class a discussion about how that day's results could transfer into their personal best on the upcoming test. Included are state standards that this lesson reached. The motivation behind this lesson was to help students that were nervous about running the PACER for a grade gain some confidence. At the end of their run, we divided the overall score by three and compared that score to the state standard so that all students could see that they can pass this test.
This is a quiz on the five components of personal fitness and what tests measure which one. It also includes a section that students told me how prepared they felt for each one on a scale of 1 (not very) to 5 (extremely). I spent the four weeks leading into our final fitness testing preparing students, focusing on the ares students were most concerned about. This was a formative assessment that told me what my lessons should focus on for each of my classes.
